We’ve done our best to ensure the information on this page is accurate and up to date at the time of writing. However, insurers can change their terms, pricing and cover at any time. Complete Health gives you and your family a strong foundation of private healthcare. You’re covered for outpatient treatment, including specialist consultations, scans, blood tests and therapy, as well as hospital care if you need a day-patient or in-patient stay.
Mental health support is included too, with structured counselling and therapy. You can also book GP appointments quickly by phone or video using the WPA Health app.
The plan is designed to flex around your life. Choose the hospital you’d like to attend, add family members such as a partner or children, and enhance your cover with optional extras like extra therapies, extended mental health support, dental care and overseas emergency treatment. You can also adjust your excess to strike the right balance between cover and cost.
Being a WPA member comes with extra perks throughout your policy. From discounts on gym memberships and optical care to health screening offers, these benefits make it easier to stay on top of your health while getting more value from your cover.
These are the benefits included as standard with WPA’s Complete Health plan, giving you solid protection from day one.
Benefit | What’s included |
|---|---|
Outpatient treatment | Most care begins with a specialist consultation. Your core outpatient cover contributes up to £250 per year towards this. Cover also includes scans, pre-admission tests and procedures that don’t require a hospital stay. |
Hospital treatment | Treatment including critical care levels 2 and 3, day-patient and in-patient therapy, diagnostic tests, scans, procedures, prostheses and specialist fees. |
NHS hospital cash benefit | If you decide to use NHS services rather than private treatment, you can claim a cash payment of £150-£200 per day/night, with a yearly maximum of £4,500. |
Mental health support | A 24/7 helpline, single-session telephone counselling service and access to online digital therapy and coping skills courses. If recommended after clinical assessment, up to six structured counselling sessions. |
Remote GP services | Access a GP by phone or video at a time that suits you, bookable through WPA’s app or member portal. |
Nursing at home | Up to four weeks of nursing care at home. |
Private ambulance transport | Access to private ambulance services when needed. |
Parent and child | Up to ten nights of hospital cover for parents when your child is staying in hospital. |
Out-of-pocket expenses | £10 per day for incidental expenses during hospital treatment. |
Hospice donation | £70 per night, up to £700, donated to a hospice if a policyholder receives end-of-life care. |
WPA’s fast track pathways give you quicker access to expert treatment when it counts. Some pathways require optional extras, so you can boost your cover if you want that extra protection.
Up to five face-to-face or remote physiotherapy sessions. (Requires the ‘therapy’ optional extra above.)
Unlimited virtual dermatology consultations for skin concerns included as standard.
Pathways to faster diagnosis for breast, prostate or skin cancer. Age restrictions apply.
Complete Health doesn’t just cover treatment, it’s designed to support your everyday health and wellbeing. Here’s what you could benefit from:
Health and wellbeing hub: Access a library of helpful guides, videos and other resources on a wide range of health topics, all designed to give support and practical advice whenever you need it.
Health and wellbeing helpline: Feeling stressed, stuck or just needing guidance? Call the 24/7 helpline for expert support on emotional health, lifestyle, finance or legal questions.
Mental health support: Early intervention for complex conditions.
Structured counselling: Solution-focused sessions if referred via the health and wellbeing service.
Member offers: Being part of WPA comes with perks like discounts on gyms, meal subscription boxes, wellness products and other health-related services.
Like all UK health insurance, there are things WPA won’t pay for. This list isn’t exhaustive, so always check WPA’s current information for all exclusions. Here’s a summary so you know what to expect:
Chronic conditions: Any long-term monitoring, management or treatment of incurable, prolonged or lifelong conditions.
Dental issues: Standard cover doesn’t include dental care, and optional dental extras only provide limited cash benefits for emergencies and injuries.
Pregnancy and fertility: Pregnancy, childbirth, fertility problems, assisted conception, contraception and sterilisation.
HIV/AIDS
Cosmetic or aesthetic treatment: Only covered if needed as a direct result of an accident or injury that’s part of an eligible claim.
Allergic conditions
Varicose veins: Not covered during the first two years if joining under full medical underwriting or moratorium underwriting.
Dangerous activities: Any condition, injury or treatment arising directly or indirectly from taking part in risky activities, including scuba diving and motor sports.
WPA’s Complete Health might be ideal if you’re looking for flexible, not-for-profit UK health cover with access to hospital care, mental health support and a range of optional extras. However, it might not be the best choice if:
You want comprehensive cancer cover as standard: With WPA, cancer care without any financial caps can be added via optional extras.
You need 24/7 GP access: The remote GP service is available during set hours, so families with young children may prefer round-the-clock access for peace of mind.
Dental care is a priority for you: Even with the optional dental cover, benefits are limited to emergencies and injuries. However, that’s also the case with some other health insurers, so a separate dental plan might be worth looking into.
You are 66+ and want a choice of underwriting: WPA’s terms state that anyone aged 66 and over must join on a full medical underwriting basis (see below for more information about underwriting options). With some insurers, the age where this becomes compulsory is higher.
WPA’s Complete Health plan suits those who want flexible cover, access to a wide hospital network, mental health support, and wellbeing benefits. You can add optional extras for therapies, dental emergencies, cancer care, or overseas treatment, so you only pay for what you need.
Home nursing is included for up to four weeks, with private ambulance cover if required, and one parent can stay with a child during inpatient treatment for up to ten nights. Overall, WPA gives a strong, member-focused package, but it’s worth checking which extras and limits match your family’s priorities.
